Whether or not a lifeguard is present, safety is a shared responsibility—please help keep yourself and others safe!
Our purpose is to inspire and create happier and healthier moments — and that begins with understanding the shared responsibility of safety in aquatic environments. As part of our commitment, we’re providing key information to help keep you and those around you safe. We’re also sharing a video from Abbey’s Hope Charitable Foundation, a leader in water safety awareness, to highlight actions you can take to create a safer environment for all.

OUR PLEDGE TO DONATE
To continue raising awareness about swimmer safety, we will make a donation to Abbey’s Hope Charitable Foundation for each page visit, as we work together toward a world with safer pools through education and advocacy for comprehensive safety standards.

Safe Swimmer Awareness Tips
If your facility is staffed with a lifeguard, never enter the water unless a lifeguard is present and actively scanning the water. If your facility is not staffed with a lifeguard, never enter the water unless an adult is actively watching. Please check your facilities age limit to attend without any Adult supervision.
Adults and caretakers must actively supervise those in their care at all times – Never take your eyes off of children in the pool and avoid distractions like reading or electronic devices. Stay within arm’s reach of non-swimmers, regardless of flotation device or water depth – Never rely on inflatable tubes or toys, and lifejackets. Non-swimmers will need to remain in areas where the water level is chest-deep or shallower when standing flat-footed.
Never enter the water if the main drains—typically located in the deepest part of the pool—are not clearly visible. If you can’t see the bottom of the pool, inform the lifeguard (if present) or Pool Management Company immediately. If you notice a drain cover loose, broken, or missing, do not enter the water and notify the lifeguard (if present) or Pool Management Company immediately.
Follow the rules, including but not limited to: no diving, no running, no roughhousing, no glass, etc.
Always secure the fence, gate, and entryway once you have entered or left the facility.
Never swim alone. Always establish a buddy system before entering the facility
If you see something, say something!
