Dan Cohen, Amenity Collective’s CIO and Director of Operations, joins Global Experts at Workday Rising, Discussing the Near Future of AI and ML

Workday Rising 2023, San Francisco, CA, featured an exciting panel discussion of Industry Leaders sharing personal insights on the future of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in business. A 450+ audience of HR, Finance, and Technology executives underscored the overwhelming interest in the topic, with panel members providing strategic and achievable insights into what can be – and will be – happening in business, starting right now. Workday released the research report,  “C-Suite Global AI Indicator Report: AI Is the Ultimate Level-Up,” in collaboration with the Financial Times, in advance of their annual Workday Rising conference, with the participation of each panelist in the longitudinal research initiative.

AI and ML have experienced an explosion of breakthroughs and advancements that have resulted in both positive and negative sentiment. Much has been written about how AI and ML may negatively impact employment, as one predominant example. This research, however, also highlights how AI and ML can and will be used in ways that create positive experiences for employees, customers, finance, human resources, IT and business executives. Workday’s global survey of 2,355 senior business executives shed a positive light on the potential impact of these burgeoning technologies, and how they expect organizations to embrace AI and ML.

Dan Cohen, The Amenity Collective’s CIO and Director of Operations, spoke about the actions he is currently focused on:

“There’s absolutely no reason we can’t begin implementing AI and ML to help tell us when a piece of fitness equipment needs proactive maintenance based on anomalies in utilization data; or manage our pool chemical supply chain with smarter inventory adjustments based upon weather forecasts for extreme and prolonged patterns of heat. Action steps like this will help us avoid supply shocks and price surges throughout our busy season. We’re already moving to make AI and ML do some of the heavy lifting that can directly benefit customers and our bottom line at the same time. When you are in the business of delivering lifestyle services in health and wellness, fitness, aquatics and white-glove concierge service, it’s all about giving the customer the best experience possible.”

While many are mired in concerns about AI and ML, the research report and the panelists all expressed their vision for the positive implications on business and people. Productivity and data accessibility can now be made available to everyone within the walls of every organization. These pioneering experts spoke about how important it will be to use this information to augment people’s skills and improve business productivity, while elevating individual performance, as well as personal satisfaction.

Dan Cohen went on to add:

“Ethical standards in the use of AI and ML are vital for long-term success. We are laying the groundwork for data integrity and how we leverage this new capability. The aspirational goal is to create a culture, at the very core of our brand, that adopts AI and empowers each person in our company to use information to do the right thing for our customers. The job satisfaction our associates feel from delivering a delightful and engaging experience to a customer is only one powerful, tangible benefit. For clients and customers, we want to use AI and ML to deliver noticeable differentiators in our service delivery. As lifestyle managers, we have to be advanced in our thinking. The quality of their relationship with us is what they’ll remember about our company. We intend to use these tools to create exceptional experiences every day for customers. That’s where we want to be.”

The Amenity Collective will be moving ahead with predictive AI and ML as a business accelerator in 2024. The company is currently identifying the best ways to leverage this technology in areas such as recruitment, inventory management, procurement, concierge and personal services, staff support, human resources and human interaction. Technology platforms such as Workday, Salesforce and Marketing Cloud are already in place as the foundation to take advantage of the current potential for AI and ML in the lifestyle services business.
